The Smothers & Pate Lineage

The earliest history of the Smothers in Louisiana stems from Concordia and West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. The earliest of them being Richard, Reason, Eli, and Charles Smothers.  The Pate family descends directly from the well-known, Haile family, who were the owners of Laurel Hill and Idalia Plantations.
